Zach completed one of his main goals this year when he finished the STP in one day on Saturday. For those of you who don't know, the STP is a bike race from Seattle to Portland...a total of 205 miles!
All spring and summer Zach has trained with two of his friends from Waterville, Josh and Jason (brothers), and then the 3 of them rode together down to Portland.
They left from Seattle at 4:45 in the morning! Zach was able to get a few shots on the camera, but it was so dark that he wasn't able to capture the shear numbers of all the riders (close to 10,000 started between 4:45 & 7:00 in the morning).
Josh, Jason, Zach
They look pretty good for getting up at 3:30 in the morning!
(One of the rest stops)
Josh's and Jason's wives, Trese & Sue, were able to make it to some of the pit stops along the way to Portland, so they took some fun pictures for me of the guys on their bikes & resting.
This was a much welcomed sign when they finally made it down to Portland. They spent 11 hours & 35 minutes on their bikes...wow! It was so much fun to wait for them to arrive and to cheer them on as they finished. What an accomplishment! I was so proud.
The mighty bikers all finished.
I asked Zach if he would do STP again...yes, but not for awhile! :)

I still can't believe he was riding a bike for 11 hours. That is out of this world craziness. It was good to see you last weekend, even if it was so short. Can't wait to hear the news of the arrival of baby boy!!!! :)
